Leverkusen might have had more shots (20-6) but they could not beat Gregor Kobel, who proved to be a very safe pair of hands by making seven saves. The match facts.

Perfect start: Borussia Dortmund are of only two teams – along with Union Berlin – to win all three of their Bundesliga matches in 2023 and are now in fourth place, only three points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.

All or nothing: BVB have not drawn a Bundesliga away game this season; there have been five wins and five defeats on the road.

In the thick of it: Salih Özcan successfully overcame 83% of the pressing situations he faced. He also won 70% of his attacking challenges.

Powerhouse: By the time of his substitution in the 85th minute, Marius Wolf had the best tackle win rate of any player with 14 of his 16 challenges won (88%). He also set up the second goal.

Top assister: Julian Brandt initiated the opener. He is Borussia's outright top assister, having set up four goals this term.

First goal: Karim Adeyemi scored his first Bundesliga goal with his 18th shot. Having failed to register a scorer point in the Bundesliga in 2022, he already has two in his first three games of 2023 (assist against Augsburg, goal in Leverkusen).

Milestone: Marco Reus was back in action for the first time since 5 November 2022 and today made his 350th Bundesliga appearance.
