Borussia Dortmund release coach André Fuhr

2022-09-19 02:00 PM by Borussia Dortmund

Women's Handball Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund today released coach André Fuhr with immediate effect.

The coach has come under heavy criticism from both players and members of the public in recent days, which rendered it almost impossible for the squad and the whole department to focus on handball.

The decision to release André Fuhr is expressly not connected to a pre-judgement.

Borussia Dortmund are currently working diligently and thoroughly on the events underlying the aforementioned situation and are in communication with the Centre against Violence in Sport, which had been contacted by several players. While the above-mentioned investigation is still ongoing, Borussia Dortmund will not comment on the matter beyond this statement.

In the meantime, Borussia Dortmund has informed players Mia Zschocke and Amelie Berger that it will comply with their personal request for a transfer – without acknowledging any legal obligation.

It remains to be decided who will coach the team going forward.
